This beautiful Turn-of-the-Century home in the DeBaliviere neighborhood suffered from a tired and dated 1970’s primary bath. In search of an updated look as well as additional storage, a luxurious tub for bathing and a larger shower with a seat, the homeowners turned to Dawn Patterson for help.
Dawn added seating and additional storage drawers under the window as well as a linen tower since a primary bathroom can never have enough storage. She also added a bench in the shower for better ergonomic design and function.
Wood wainscoting on the tub skirt adds warmth to the space and gold fixtures bring a modern feel while honoring the tradition and age of the home. The homeowner wanted to keep their existing large plate mirror behind the tub for added light but embraced the idea of insetting it into a wall of tile for a clean, modern look.
The homeowners also renovated their hall bathroom at the same time. They selected the same cabinetry and tile for continuity between the two spaces but opted for grass-cloth wallpaper and a unique light fixture to give the hall bath it’s own bit of originality.
